Position Summary

We are on the lookout for a Senior Data Scientist with expertise in machine learning, transformers, and neural networks, focusing on transforming the e-commerce experience.

About Team: Personalization

Our Personalization team is dedicated to improving the customer experience across Walmart's U.S. stores and eCommerce platforms. We're focused on a diverse array of areas, including customer experience, in-store service, merchant tools, data science, search, and personalization. Our mission is to deliver best-in-class data products that empower team members and enhance customers' shopping journeys, whether online at Walmart.com, via mobile apps, or in-store.

What You’ll Do

- Lead the development and integration of data science-driven product capabilities.

- Oversee team projects, provide technical support, and ensure timely delivery.

- Promote adherence to MLOps and software best practices, including data and code quality testing.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify new opportunities and drive innovation.

- Evaluate business cases, translate product requirements, and contribute to planning and prioritization.

What You’ll Bring

- Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields with 5+ years of practical experience.

- Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistics.

- Extensive experience in e-commerce and digital customer behavior applications.

- Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, and PySpark.

- Exceptional business acumen, problem-solving skills, and the ability to prototype and implement complex AI solutions.

- Outstanding communication and leadership skills.

- Experience with Generative AI is a significant advantage.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 3 years of experience, OR Master’s degree with 1 year of experience, OR 5 years of experience in an analytics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics.

- Proficiency in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.

- Experience with open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.

- Expertise in creating inclusive digital experiences and familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
