Join us and become part of a purpose-driven company that is committed to your future! Job Summary Our Analytics & AI Solutions Team is recruiting a Senior Data Scientist for our claims department. This role is tasked with using advanced mathematical and statistical approaches to address business problems, working independently most times. Senior data scientists collect, integrate, and analyze data from health status and outcomes of our members, characteristics of health care providers, internal business processes, and other domains. Senior data scientists conduct intricate statistical analyses on experimental or business data to validate and quantify trends or patterns identified by business analysts. They select and fine-tune machine learning and probabilistic modelling methods to build predictive algorithms that support data analysis or product functionalities. Using real-world results, they verify the effectiveness of models and algorithms. Senior data scientists devise experiments and methodologies for data generation and collection for business use. They create visualizations, interactive analytical applications, and interpretative entities to aid the business application of data science findings. They also represent the viewpoint of the data science team on cross-functional teams and contribute towards critical decisions. Job Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics, or a related quantitative field; or actuarial credential; or Master’s degree and 2 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics, or a related quantitative field; or Ph.D. in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; or 7 years experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics, or related quantitative field. * Strong ability to learn and desire for growth * Customer-centric approach * Excellent interpersonal, spoken, and written communication skills * Proficiency in at least four of the following six areas: 1) data analysis and relational-style query languages; 2) machine learning and/or statistical modelling; 3) data visualization; 4) a high-level programming language; 5) distributed computing; 6) understanding of healthcare. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field, or bachelor's degree with significant healthcare experience. This is a hybrid role and must be based out of our Chicago, IL, or Richardson, TX office.
