The Community You Will Join

We are in search of exceptional Data Scientists for our Search & Personalization Data Science team. Airbnb Search is crucial for our marketplace, focusing on delivering a first-rate search experience for guests from initial homepage interaction, through search and listing exploration, to checkout. As part of this team, you'll contribute by building data products, inference frameworks, and intelligence systems to foster a personalized and refined search experience. This role involves balancing our marketplace's short-term and long-term health.

The Impact You Will Make

Your role will be central, collaborating with other data scientists and cross-functional teams across guest search experience, host, and marketplace areas. Tasks include:

• Developing models to decode guest conversion drivers and shape supply management strategies.
• Creating systems to identify and rectify suboptimal user paths, utilizing behavioral logs.
• Building frameworks to correlate conversion drivers for strategic decision-making and progress tracking.
• Providing technical mentorship within the team, ensuring high standards in data products architecture.

A Typical Day

Your day-to-day will involve:

• Constructing machine learning models and developing robust inference frameworks.
• Utilizing autonomy to explore and implement cutting-edge innovations.
• Presenting your findings internally to stakeholders and externally to the scientific community, enhancing Airbnb’s innovative edge.

Your Expertise

We're looking for someone with:

• Over 5 years of industry experience, preferably with consumer search products or recommender systems.
• Strong proficiency in inferential and machine learning techniques, high-dimensional data modeling, and causal inference.
• Expertise in at least one programming language for data analysis (Python or R) and strong SQL skills.
• Experience with distributed systems and ETL frameworks such as Airflow.
• A passion for scaling data science efforts and a history of prototype development leading to production-grade solutions.

Your Location

This is a US Remote-Eligible position requiring occasional presence at Airbnb offices or offsite locations as agreed with your manager. Candidates must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc is registered.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary range of $174,000—$213,500 USD, alongside bonuses, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
