Abnormal Security, a pioneering force in email security, is searching for a Senior Engineering Manager to head our Detection Serving & Signals (DS&S) team. This pivotal role centers around the platforms and systems fueling our premier Detection capabilities, crucial for the operational success of our Email Security Product.

About the Role:

Your leadership will oversee:

  • Our top-tier email scoring services, critical to the Remediation process within our Email Security Product.
  • The Abnormal Feature Store (Compass), enhancing feature engineering to enable quick, stable, and confident updates for our engineers.
  • Infrastructure supporting the processing, management, and accessibility of Message Entities in both offline and online capacities.

Preferable candidates should have a robust background in managing production engineering teams that develop scalable distributed systems and high-volume real-time solutions. Knowledge of Security or Fraud sectors is advantageous but not necessary — we welcome diverse experience from industries like Ads, Search, Recommendation, and beyond, applied in innovative ways to secure global communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Providing ownership and operational leadership across several domains, including our core detection infrastructure and online/offline signal platforms.
  • Building and enhancing system capabilities and signal processing to achieve exponential scalability.
  • Leading and expanding a high-functioning team of Engineers.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of hands-on engineering experience in data-oriented and/or machine learning system development.
  • At least 2 years in management roles within production ML Ops, or related platform teams.
  • Profound knowledge of ML Ops team technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and various ML serving platforms.
  • Proven capability in team and recruitment leadership, setting high standards and fostering an environment that enhances team and system efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a Feature platform that supports multiple ML-based products.
  • Background in Cybersecurity and/or high-growth startups.

At Abnormal Security, we offer a competitive compensation package including salary, bonus opportunities, restricted stock units, and comprehensive benefits. The salary range for this role is $218,100—$256,600 USD.
