Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud (CIC) offers a user-friendly authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. Position: Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Our Machine Learning team focuses on crafting ML models, leveraging Generative AI, and developing infrastructure to upscale AI/ML operations. In this pivotal role, you'll enhance Generative AI use cases from integrating Large Language Models (LLM) to creating reusable platform components. An ideal candidate is technically proficient with hands-on experience in AI/ML systems, data-driven, and passionate about applied AI/ML. Responsibilities also include contributing to cutting-edge open-source AI/ML technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement infrastructure for leveraging LLM in production.
• Optimize LLM to enhance response quality and performance.
• Develop workflows to process data from various sources into a knowledge base.
• Collaborate with platform engineering teams to integrate AI/ML systems into production environments.
• Engage in project planning, design, development, and code reviews.
• Communicate technical insights and recommendations to business customers and leadership teams.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Product Management, Security, and Design teams to overcome challenges.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in computing languages like Python, Scala, C++, Java, etc.
• Knowledge of AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, or similar Generative AI platforms.
• Experience with developing large-scale AI/ML systems and platforms.
• Familiarity with LLMOps, CI/CD, and IaC.
• Comprehensive understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle.
• Skills in prompt engineering and guardrails.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Outstanding troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with model training and fine-tuning at scale.
• Knowledge of ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, Spark ML, PyTorch.
• Experience with data workflow platforms like Airflow, and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Python and AI/ML libraries such as LangChain and FastAPI.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and self-motivate in a dynamic environment.
• Blend of technical skills and business insight for interfacing across organizational levels.

Additional Requirements

This position requires access to federal environments or protected federal data. Candidates must provide documentation establishing U.S. Person status upon hiring, per 22 CFR 120.15.

Compensation and Benefits

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington. Actual salary will depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Okta offers equity, bonus, health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, paid leave (including PTO and parental leave), and more.

Annual base salary range for candidates in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington: $146,000—$218,000 USD.
Annual base salary range for candidates in the San Francisco Bay area: $163,000—$245,000 USD.
