The Community You Will Join: Marketing Technology is a platform team at Airbnb with the objective of delivering top-notch marketing technology for our stakeholders throughout the company including Marketing (Brand and Performance), Guest Experience, Host, Policy, and more. Our mission is to empower both marketing and product teams to effectively deliver highly personalized and pertinent marketing campaigns to the Airbnb community, both on-site and off-site. The Difference You Will Make: As a Senior Software Engineer in Marketing Technology, you will be tasked with using AI/ML to augment Airbnb's marketing performance. Projects will range from personalized listing/destination recommendation in marketing campaigns to futuristic strategies on generative AI. A Typical Day: - Working with large volumes of structured and unstructured data, building and continuously improving cutting-edge Machine Learning models for Airbnb product, business and operational use. - Collaborative work with cross-functional partners including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists, identifying opportunities for business impact, refining and prioritizing requirements for machine learning models, driving engineering decisions, and quantifying impact. - Hands-on development, production, and operation of Machine Learning models and pipelines at scale, including both batch and real-time use cases. - Use third-party and in-house Machine Learning tools & infrastructure to develop reusable, highly differentiating, and high-performing Machine Learning systems, enable quick model development, low-latency serving, and ease of model quality upkeep. Your Expertise: - 5-9+ years of industry experience with a BS/Masters and 2+ years with a PhD. - Strong programming (Scala / Python / Java/ C++ or equivalent) and data engineering skills. - Deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices (e.g., training/serving skew minimization, A/B test, feature engineering, feature/model selection) and algorithms (e.g., gradient boosted trees, neural networks/deep learning, optimization). - Industry experience building end-to-end Machine Learning infrastructure and/or building and productionizing Machine Learning models. - Hands-on experience with large language models is preferred, for example, BERT, LaMDA, GPT-2/3/4, LLaMa. Your Location: This position is eligible for remote work in the US. The role may occasionally require work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. Pay Range $185,000 — $221,000 USD.
