Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Applied Scientist to join our Corporate Research team. This role requires extensive knowledge in cell biology, biochemistry, statistics, data science, and machine learning concepts. You will utilize cutting-edge computer vision methodologies to enhance Sartorius's industry-leading imaging products, widely used across the life science and biopharmaceutical sectors.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and lead technical/applied research projects aligned with our Research and Technology Roadmaps
• Evaluate state-of-the-art knowledge for business potential and integrate findings into projects and existing technologies
• Build prototypes using advanced machine learning tools for applications in computer vision, sequence analysis, and omics analysis
• Implement best practices in data science for developing and deploying reliable machine learning solutions
• Advise project leads and upper management on project status
• Collaborate with a global team on respective technology areas
• Maintain and build strong relationships with internal and external collaborators

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Biotech, Engineering, Physics, or related fields, or equivalent research experience
• 2+ years of industry experience using modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and advanced computer vision methodologies
• Experience with real-world data and microscopy images is a plus
• Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with data science tools (Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib) and version control systems (Git)
• Working knowledge of machine learning management systems (e.g., Azure ML) or workflow engines (e.g., MLFlow, Airflow, Metaflow), and data storage solutions

Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 (Higher starting salaries may be available based on geographic differentials)
