About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Motor Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in electric propulsion design to join our team. In this role, you will participate in the complete development cycle of high-power, high-performance electrical machines and drive systems for future aircraft propulsion. Your expertise will help shape the future of flight and contribute significantly to greener aviation, protecting our environment for future generations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design components and assemblies for electrical machines using 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
- Provide engineering analysis and first principle calculations to support and validate designs.
- Lead the development of design solutions throughout the product lifecycle, from requirements to testing and verification.
- Conduct hands-on development of manufacturing processes and novel design solutions in the workshop.
- Collaborate with suppliers and partners on electric propulsion system design and development.
- Drive technical innovation and develop intellectual property.
- Generate technical reports and presentations for technical reviews and TRL gates.
- Plan technical work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience in mechanical design of rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD software like CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks, Siemens NX.
- Understanding of engineering principles and ability to perform first principles calculations.
- Knowledge of GD&T processes and experience in using FEA software packages.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools and safety-critical engineering practices.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience supporting prototype manufacturing and assembly teams.
Desirable:
- Experience in the Aerospace industry and vehicle electrification.
- Proficiency in Finite Element Modelling and familiarity with system engineering practices.
- Understanding of electromagnetics and thermal principles applied to electrical machine design.
- Experience using Product Lifecycle Management tools like Windchill.
