Summary / Role Purpose

As a Snowflake Cloud Administrator, you will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, performant, and secure data architectures on the Snowflake cloud data platform. Collaborate closely with enterprise architecture, data engineering, and analytics teams to design, implement, and monitor complex data architectures. Ensuring stability, security, efficiency, and integration of Snowflake environments with other systems in the organization's technology stack is crucial.

Additionally, you will work with other architects, developers, and stakeholders to align the data warehouse with the organization's overall digital transformation goals and data mesh strategy. Experience with Data Vault 2.0 and managing large-scale transactional and operational Data Marts/Lakes is preferred.

Create and maintain technical documentation, ensure compliance with data governance and security policies, and provide technical guidance and configuration to the team. This role demands deep expertise in Snowflake's capabilities, data modeling, ETL (specifically Fivetran HVR), and SQL.

This position is remote, with occasional travel to corporate HQ based on business needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Expertise in Snowflake platform: Design and implement complex data architectures, optimize performance.
  • ETL/ELT and data integration: Design and implement efficient data pipelines.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement strategies for database optimization.
  • Security Management: Ensure best practices for security within Snowflake.
  • Capacity Planning: Monitor and plan for resource expansion.
  • Cost Management: Identify and optimize cost-saving opportunities.
  • Cloud expertise: Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud security best practices.
  • Data governance and security: Design solutions for governance and security compliance.
  • Collaboration and communication: Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork.
  • Advocacy: Promote Snowflake platform capabilities and technical know-how.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience, including:
    • 5 years of Snowflake database management and administration.
    • 2 years as a data architect with Snowflake Architect Certification or 3 years without certification.
  • SnowPro certification required.
  • Experience with distributed systems and big data technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative team environment experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration principles for scalable data analytics solutions.
  • Expertise in leveraging cloud technologies to enhance data analytics.
  • Experience with Data-build-tool (dbt) for automated platform code in a versioned CI/CD process.
  • Broad knowledge across hardware, software systems, and solution development.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for articulating complex ideas.
  • Strong team player with leadership qualities for mentoring and motivating team members.
