About the Role

We are currently seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our core speech technology team. In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, researchers, and voice AI practitioners to enable diverse Voice AI products for customers in various industries using SoundHound's advanced ASR technologies. Utilize your software engineering and machine learning expertise to solve real-world Voice AI problems and directly deliver value to our customers.

Initial Interview Process: The early stages of the interview will include an online evaluation followed by a recruiter screening.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train, tune, and test state-of-the-art ASR models for various languages across all SoundHound Voice AI products using machine learning and deep learning techniques.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ASR technologies into our products.
  • Run benchmarks to monitor the performance of ASR solutions and optimize models for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Provide customized ASR solutions to address customer-specific or product-specific challenges.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer-related ASR issues promptly.
  • Conduct data-driven proof-of-concept experiments and apply our ASR and ML technologies to real-world applications.

About You

We are eager to hear from you if:

  • You possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 5 years of full-time work experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of full-time experience.
  • You have experience with automatic speech recognition, keyword detection, or natural language understanding.
  • You have a strong understanding of deep learning and neural networks fundamentals, and are proficient in deep learning frameworks.
  • You are proficient in writing production-level Python code.

Bonus Points: We would be thrilled if you have experience with Kaldi, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and have worked on projects enabling on-device models using TensorFlow Lite. A good understanding of the end-to-end ASR pipeline, developing, tuning, deploying, and maintaining ASR models, NLP techniques related to ASR, as well as experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and other containerization technologies in a cloud service environment, would be advantageous. Proficiency in writing production-level C++ code is a plus!

Location and Benefits

This role is available across Canada. Employees within a 100-kilometer radius of our Toronto office are expected to work from the office on three pre-scheduled "core days" each month to promote cross-team collaboration. Outside these days, this job offers flexible options for remote, hybrid, and in-office work settings. In addition to salary and equity, we provide comprehensive healthcare, paid time off, and other benefits. Salary ranges will be provided by our recruiting team based on location and experience.
