Role Overview: Senior Data Engineer, Bangalore

This pivotal role within Visa offers the opportunity to take charge of building new capabilities in the Risk space while enhancing our codebase and development processes. We are looking for a talented developer with a robust technical leadership background who thrives in dynamic conditions and is adept at Agile Scrum methodologies. Expect to engage deeply with product backlogs and deliver production-ready code that addresses both new requirements and enhancements to existing systems.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include designing, documenting, developing, and testing new functionalities, constantly striving for efficiency and effectiveness. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation of data-driven business solutions.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate intensively with stakeholders including Product Managers, Architects, and Software Engineers.
• Engage thoroughly in requirements definition to ensure a comprehensive understanding and alignment with business needs.
• Create design documentation reflective of business requirements and facilitate design reviews.
• Contribute to continuous integration practices across teams including build and test automation.

Candidate Profile

Prospective candidates should possess at least four years of relevant experience, along with a Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree. Experience in technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, MongoDB, and RDBMS is crucial. Programming proficiency in Java, Scala, Perl, or Python, and familiarity with CI/CD methodologies are highly desirable. Additional competencies in data visualization tools like Tableau will be advantageous.

Work Model and Location

This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore, India, requiring a balanced presence between home and office as per business needs, typically amounting to office attendance of 50% or more.
