Where and How You Can Work

Our main campus is in Sydney, with additional campuses in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. You have the flexibility to work from the office (if you're near one), from home, or a combination of both. The choice is up to you!

What You’d Be Doing in This Role

As Canva scales, change is constant, and we consider it part of the fun. Here's what you can expect to work on:

Current Focus Areas

• Data-Driven Growth: Identify growth opportunities and provide concrete recommendations for the product roadmap using data.
• Strategic Insights: Combine deep product knowledge with data to produce insights that help grow the business and enhance features.
• Experimentation: Design and analyze experiments to test hypotheses from user research and strategic insights.
• Metrics and Forecasting: Develop and implement goal metrics, track feature usage, and utilize dashboards to influence business decisions.
• Data Support: Provide feature usage data to support business decisions and enhance process efficiency through self-service tools.
• Dashboard Creation: Build and maintain visually appealing dashboards for your group's initiatives.
• Team Coaching (Optional): Lead a team of Data Scientists, contribute to data strategy, and coordinate with Discovery leadership.

You're Probably a Match If

• You have a proven record of influencing business growth through data.
• You possess strong technical skills in data science, including hypothesis-driven problem solving, SQL, numerical thinking, and data storytelling.
• Experience with search or recommendation data sets is a plus.
• You have excellent soft skills such as attention to detail, public speaking, and clear writing.
• You are skilled in experimentation, designing analytic events, and data warehousing.
• A background in mathematics/statistics and a bachelor's degree in a STEM field is desirable.
• Experience working in a tech company with web/mobile products is beneficial.
• You are proficient in R or Python and have experience with large datasets.

About the Team

You’ll join Canva’s dynamic Discovery data team. As a core part of our Discovery group, we are responsible for AI, Machine Learning, Infrastructure, and User Experience, enhancing Canva’s discovery experience. We aim to build a highly personalized Canva, develop and productionize user modeling, and apply ML to a variety of images, all to empower users to design.
