Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Staff Data Scientist I, you will:

• Drive the Careem app’s personalization-led AI transformation from the ground up.
• Develop long-term strategies for enhancing customer acquisition and engagement through data-centric decision making.
• Conduct exploratory analyses to grasp our ecosystem and user behavior, uncovering new opportunities for metric improvement and user model enhancements.
• Influence and shape data and ML models, optimizing product experiences and uncovering new business and product opportunities through insightful data analysis.
• Lead product discussions, offering data-driven recommendations to articulate business status, changes in key metrics, and results of experiments to stakeholders.
• Deploy scalable machine learning algorithms for production application on large data sets.
• Initiate data analysis projects to explore and capitalize on growth and optimization opportunities.
• Design and conduct controlled experiments, analyze outcomes, and communicate insights to cross-functional teams.
• Continually evaluate emerging data processing technologies to maintain industry best practices.
• Develop and implement large language models and other advanced AI applications.

What You’ll Need

Qualifications for the role include:

• Over 10 years of experience in data mining, predictive modeling, and machine learning.
• An advanced degree in Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Proven experience with deep learning techniques and at least 3-4 years specializing in personalization, recommendations, or search within a product-focused business.
• Strong coding skills and proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, Hive among other technological tools.
• A solid grasp of AB testing, classic machine learning, and in-depth knowledge of recommendation systems and data retrieval.
