About the Role

In this role, you will be part of the Data Science and Platform (DSP) team, responsible for developing innovative data solutions at Chime. Your task will be to ensure that the data-related requirements of various business domains like fraud, credit, marketing, and product are met through consistent collaboration with different teams at Chime. You will be in charge of strategic initiatives from beginning to end, influencing decision-making, mentoring data scientists and engineers, serving as a role model, and leading others in solving business issues based on Chime's changing needs. The ideal candidate has a good grasp of data analysis, statistics, machine learning, and software engineering, combined with the capacity to learn new domains and work effectively as part of a team. Your main task will be to develop AI abilities to help Chime navigate the ever-changing fintech industry scene.

The base salary for this role and level of experience starts at $216,800.00 and goes up to $307,100.00. Full-time staff members are also eligible for a bonus, a competitive equity package, and other benefits. The actual base salary may be higher, dependent on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Direct the AI strategy for various business challenges by collaborating with data, product, business, and engineering leaders.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on Chime's various data domains and utilize innovative methods to effectively address business needs.
  • Design, develop, and launch innovative models and systems.
  • Work closely with data scientists and engineers to create scalable data solutions.
  • Stay ahead of the constantly evolving AI landscape, advocating for innovations that can greatly benefit Chime and its valued members.
  • Engage actively with Chime's data community to promote scientific rigor and encourage community participation and enthusiasm.
  • Proactively identify gaps and promote best practices to ensure high technical standards across various data science teams.
  • Mentor and coach data scientists and engineers, aiding in their professional development.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • A proven history of innovative solutions to large business problems across multiple data domains.
  • Shown influential communication with various business, data and engineering functions in building data solutions, aligning on strategic directions.
  • Mastery in advanced techniques like GBMs, Deep Learning, Graph Neural Networks, Causal Inference, Bayesian statistics, etc.
  • Expertise in building systems using cloud-native architectures.
  • A technology-agnostic approach, adaptable to different prediction or inference techniques and tech-stacks, with a focus on results.
  • Experience in fostering and scaling data communities to enhance collaboration and shared learning.
  • A proven track record of coaching and mentoring, driving team excellence, and elevating junior talents.
  • A team player who is empathetic, complemented by effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners.
