Waystar is on the hunt for a seasoned Vice President of Data Architecture to spearhead our data initiatives and oversee our data warehouse platform. This pivotal role involves building and optimizing our data warehouse to serve as a cornerstone for our data science and analytics endeavors. The perfect candidate will boast extensive experience in data warehousing, cloud data platforms, and data governance, with an aptitude for evolving Waystar's data stack into a unified data warehouse.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Data Strategy

Design and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with Waystar’s product objectives and data needs.

Architecture and Design

Lead the creation and maintenance of a scalable, high-performance unified data warehouse that caters to analytics, reporting, product integration, machine learning, data science, and generative AI.

Product Roadmap

Drive the data product roadmap, focusing on advanced analytics, technical scale, and data accessibility for machine learning and generative AI.

Healthcare Leadership

Lead the development of unique data products aimed at solving complex healthcare issues.

Data Governance

Enhance data governance policies to maintain data quality, consistency, and security.

Platform and Tooling

Oversee the adoption and integration of cloud data technologies to ensure a cohesive data model and scalable ETL/ELT processes.

Team Leadership

Build and mentor a high-performing team of data architects, product managers, and software engineers, ensuring high operational velocity.

Strategy and Collaboration

Contribute to the Product and Technology leadership team, working cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and business units to deliver transformative solutions.

Continuous Improvement

Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, continuously enhancing Waystar’s data infrastructure.

Project Oversight

Manage multiple projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery with regular updates to technology leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in data architecture principles, data warehousing, data modeling, SQL, ETL processes, and data integration.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Expertise in data platforms such as Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Data Bricks, Redshift, or Azure SQL Data Warehouse.
• Strong understanding of data governance practices.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to develop and execute a strategic roadmap for data architecture in alignment with business goals.
• Strong project management skills.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture and data platform technologies.
• At least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing data architecture or related teams.
• Healthcare or technology industry experience is a plus.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
