Machine Learning Engineer: Role Overview

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our tight-knit team, taking ownership of significant segments of our product and company. Your role involves developing predictive models that utilize the continuous data stream generated by our robots and sensors. These models will enhance our smart manufacturing technologies, benefiting our leading aerospace and automotive customers by making production faster, cheaper, and enabling new possibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Engineering team to identify opportunities for machine learning automation and predictive modeling.
• Conduct data mining to uncover valuable and impactful data, subsequently developing, training, and deploying models.
• Define relevant metrics for each project to align with business objectives.
• Perform data cleaning and ETLs to extract pertinent features for modeling.
• Support team members with data analysis and accurate data interpretation.
• Implement proper A/B testing for various solutions or models.
• Build pipelines for running multiple machine learning models simultaneously in production.
• Develop monitoring tools to assess data quality and system performance.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to their professional growth.
• Engage actively in the interview process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, MS, or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years of experience with machine learning systems, including deep learning and time series analysis.
• Experience with startup environments or early product development.
• Strong understanding of fundamental computer science algorithms and scaling behaviors.
• Proficient in Python programming.
• Familiarity with build/release systems and processes.
• Experience with data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL processes.
• Experience with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Hive) and orchestration frameworks (Airflow).
• Proficient in analytic environments (Databricks, Sagemaker, Jupyter).
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
• Experience in fast-paced, iterative design and manufacturing environments.
• Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
