About Us at Kroo

Kroo has a grand mission. Our aim is to be the maiden bank that is not only trusted but also loved by its clients. We are committed to assisting individuals in managing their monetary future and accomplishing their objectives whilst making a positive difference in the world. Here at Kroo, doing what is correct is ingrained in us. We act with honesty, transparency, and integrity. We dream big, aim high, and tirelessly work towards our goals. We enjoy being brave, pioneering, and we never cease learning. Above all, we are embarking on this journey as a team.

How Your Role Will Add Value:

Kroo Lending is here to back our customers' significant life events. Loans can be for joyous reasons, or for mature purposes: such as a commute bike for parents or replacing an old boiler. By understanding our customers better through data, Kroo Lending can aide - and safeguard - them throughout their journey. We are in search of a brilliant team member with a solid data skill set for retail lending, capable of understanding our expanding lending sector, and sharing insights with the team. Regardless of your current designation, if you've honed your skills in a business analytics role, or perhaps a more technologically inclined data science capacity, let's connect and discuss your aspirations. You will report to the Branch Head of Lending, but will independently collaborate with colleagues throughout the business and senior management.

We're currently working with several exciting data heads, most of them for the first time, and simply getting to the starting point is often half the battle. At times, we need to make the most with what we have while moving towards the end goal. Below are some of the tasks you will be tackling, but you will have the freedom to shape the role according to your strengths:

  • Take control of a broad view of lending analytics, including: customer credit profiles, application performance, credit decisioning, and portfolio performance
  • Operate and establish regular reporting, automating wherever feasible. Audiences include a credit bureau and a monthly credit committee
  • Independently examine and question data, finding the answers to various problems. Rely on team members when needed
  • Data visualization and presentation. Given the messy nature of data, you'll look for narratives and present them succinctly
  • Work with Kroo colleagues across product, finance, lending operations, data engineering, research, and compliance.
  • Become the expert in this field and have people ask for your input. Offer mentoring, and develop managerial skills

Kroo is growing and we’re excited to welcome you if you’re interested in joining us on our journey!

Requirements

About You

Although not mandatory, the following experience is highly desirable for our ideal candidate for this role:

  • Data querying, examination, presentation. This will be your main focus
  • Business intelligence tool and dashboard development. Complex database queries are great, but giving team members easy access to basic and insightful data on a live basis will keep everyone satisfied (we're switching from Tableau to Lightdash, you can learn it)
  • Technical understanding of lending - ideally in the consumer space: probability of default, loss given default, recovery
  • Experience with credit bureau data, and credit risk markers, and possibly Open Banking transaction data
  • Capability to deal with messy databases containing raw customer data, and providing clear insights into risk performance and actionable changes to improve customer outcomes.
  • Readiness for startup life. Although it might sound cliché, there are unique pressures that come with working in an exciting growth environment – a proactive, practical, dogged attitude is highly valued.

What will success look like within the first few months:

  • Provide the business with insights into our lending clients' characteristics, application journey funnels, portfolio performance and perfect reporting liaison with credit reference agencies
  • Have automated some ongoing business needs or made them nearly effortless
  • Wrestled with a new data set, identified the narratives and communicated outside of the immediate team.
  • Dig into Open Banking data and construct customer personas, and profiles for robust lending or conversely those that might be financially vulnerable
  • Developed actionable conclusions from our data, worked with the Product team to specify any engineering changes, monitored the customer or business outcome (and celebrated your success)

About Our Process:

We can be flexible with the structure of our interview process if someone's circumstances or deadlines dictate it but our general structure is:

  • Initial meeting with the People team - 30 minutes
  • Business meeting with the Branch Head of Lending - 30 minutes
  • Technical task and discussion - 60 minutes
  • Team meeting with colleagues and the Chief Lending and Deposits Officer - 30 minutes

Please let us know if you need any adjustments or support so we can accommodate you as best as we can.
