Position: Business Intelligence Engineer - People Team

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Engineer for Snap’s People Team. In this role, you will act as a trusted business partner, blending technical expertise, business acumen, and analytic rigor. You will collaborate with engineering, people science, business leaders, and HR leadership to design and build data tools/visualizations, conduct analyses, identify key insights, and translate analytics into actionable outcomes that drive our organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Translate business questions into actionable and efficient analytics plans.
• Conduct high-quality statistical analyses and communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop and implement data-pipelines and end-user data tools (e.g., Visier, Looker, Posit).
• Ensure data quality/integrity throughout all data acquisition and processing stages.
• Design, implement, and document efficient data querying and modeling infrastructure.
• Manage workflow, prioritize high-impact projects, and maintain clear communication about timelines and dependencies.
• Mentor and guide junior team members to promote a culture of learning and growth.

Qualifications

Required

• BS/BA degree in a technical or research science-based field (e.g., computer science, math, sociology).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in SQL or similar query languages.
• 5+ years of development experience in at least one object-oriented or scripting language (Python preferred).
• 3+ years of experience using data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., R, Python, Tableau, Looker).
• Experience in data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and using Python or R for data analysis.
• Experience building interactive dashboards using data visualization tools.
• Strong analytical skills including statistical analyses and hypothesis testing.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in independently designing research plans and analyzing data.

Preferred

• MA/MS in a technical or research-based field.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and its data offerings (e.g., BigQuery).
• Experience in agile development and using version control systems like Git.
• Credentials such as “Visier Analytic Model Developer” or “Visier Certified Developer.”
