Job Opportunity: Data Scientist Intern at Leidos

Join the Leidos AI/ML Accelerator in Arlington, VA as a Data Scientist Intern. We are seeking candidates with strong knowledge in machine learning and artificial intelligence to contribute to various AI/ML projects.

Key Requirements and Skills

Candidates must possess:

  • Comprehensive understanding of multiple types of data (text, image, video, audio, lidar) with a focus on abstract reasoning and mitigating incomplete or incorrect data in diagrammatic reasoning.
  • Hands-on knowledge of language models (LLMs)/Generative AI and transformers.
  • An understanding of reinforcement learning concepts to enable continuous learning and task optimization.
  • Proficiency in Ethical AI principles and their application.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in technical teams to customize algorithms for data fusion.
  • Proficiency in intermediate Python coding and experience with ML libraries like SciKit Learn, DKube, KubeFlow, Feast, Azure, TensorFlow, Keras, etc.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop AI/ML prototypes for various use cases including entity/object identification, object association, disambiguation, anomaly detection, and state estimation.
  • Create and maintain physical and logical data models.
  • Perform ETL tasks ensuring data consistency, quality, accuracy, and security.
  • Conduct anomaly detection utilizing various AI/ML techniques.
  • Configure general adversarial networks (GANs) and integrate with Generative AI training.
  • Engineer prompts for LLMs and Generative AI models.
  • Identify complex patterns across multiple data modalities using algorithms.
  • Enhance data alignment and fusion efficiency and quality.
  • Design reward models for reinforcement learning.
  • Maintain and improve analysis tools, automating processes using AI/ML algorithms.
  • Configure and program ML solutions in Jupyter notebooks.
  • Utilize AWS instances for training and operating AI/ML models.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD candidate in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with a polygraph.
  • Knowledge of deep learning frameworks like Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Mxnet, etc.
  • Experience in statistical analysis, reinforcement learning, transfer learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
  • Intermediate software development skills with a focus on production-quality code. Python preferred.
  • Experience in Machine Learning, and/or Text, through courses or projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in visualization/web development tools (e.g., Tableau, D3).
  • Experience in prototype development and automating data processes (cleansing, formatting, staging).
  • Experience in data analytics, prompt engineering, reinforcement learning, LLMs, Generative AI, and intelligent systems.
  • Familiarity with deep learning model interpretability.
  • Big Data skills (Azure, Hadoop, Spark, contemporary deep learning platforms).
  • Experience with text mining tools and techniques, including summarization, search, entity extraction, and anomaly detection.
  • Experience with DKube, KubeFlow, and Feast platforms.

Compensation

Pay Range: $53,950.00 - $97,525.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Offers will be extended based on the responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with internal equity, market data alignment, applicable bargaining agreements, or other laws.
