Role Overview: Director, Research Science (P1072)

The Director, AI/ML Researcher role offers a unique opportunity to utilize deep expertise in machine learning, optimization, AI, and forecasting to solve critical business challenges. This senior role involves creating, customizing, and applying leading-edge scientific methods to rich, diverse data, thereby shaping the future of our research and driving business value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop advanced technical solutions in AI/ML, statistical analyses, classification and clustering, and optimization.
  • Adapt and apply new scientific methods and technologies to business problems.
  • Collaborate with other scientists and thought leaders to shape research directions.
  • Partner with development teams to enhance tools, processes, and model performance.
  • Translate research into prototypes for testing and deployment.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled professionals.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or Masters in fields such as machine learning, AI, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related areas. Exceptional contributions in the retail or customer domain may substitute for a PhD in some cases.
  • Proven ability to self-direct research and set agendas for junior scientists and developers.
  • Comfortable learning new sciences and technologies independently.
  • Track record of high-quality, peer-reviewed scientific publications or technical contributions.
  • Proficiency in Python, Spark, APIs, Cloud, and Distributed/Parallel Computing.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in creating computationally efficient solutions with profiling and benchmarking techniques.
  • Experience in full end-to-end software development, CI/CD, and MLOps.
  • Proficiency in building large-scale algorithmic solutions successfully delivered to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the End-to-End Machine Learning pipeline and MLOps tools (e.g., Model registry, Experiment tracking, Feature Store, Model monitoring).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to visualize complex data sets.
  • Independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional time and project management abilities, with a proven record of leading technical teams and transforming ideas into business solutions.
