Job Description
Role:
We are seeking a skilled professional to augment our expanding machine learning and data science team. This role involves devising creative strategies to develop new technology centered on surgical workflow and performance for next-generation robotic surgery platforms.
As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will function at the crossroads of machine learning and engineering (i.e., ) and contribute to innovative digital solutions utilizing Surgical ML/AI technologies. Initial projects and responsibilities could include:
- Incorporating machine learning into digital products and services by coordinating with engineering, data science, and machine learning teams
- Designing automated workflows and tools to manage datasets and facilitate the training of deep learning models
- Cooperating with Machine Learning and Data/Software Engineering teams to develop procedures for model deployment/monitoring for various applications.
- Refining and evolving frameworks to oversee the lifecycle of model development, from research to production, monitoring, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Minimum M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical area, preferably with at least 2-3 years of relevant industry experience developing production-ready code in machine learning, data engineering, or a similar field
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to work in a dynamic, concentrated, small-team environment with a sense of shared responsibility and shared reward
- A curiosity in early research and product development through to product rollout in surgical AI and robotic surgery fields
- Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as , Tensorflow, or similar
- Understanding of MLOps platforms and/or ML CI/CD workflows to manage datasets, model training, deployment, and monitoring
- Experience with Python and SQL
- Experience with cloud computing environments such as AWS or GCP
- Capability for domestic and international travel (5-10%)
Additional desirable experience:
- Experience with both edge and cloud deployments, focusing on automation, scalability, and robustness
- Experience with successfully launching ML models into production
- Experience in healthcare
- Experience with federated learning
- Experience handling large image/video datasets
