What if you could join a rapidly growing company and play a critical role in bringing new medicines to patients through looking at and treating disease in a revolutionary way.
What this position is all about:
Cellarity is seeking a highly motivated Senior Principal Scientist, Machine Learning with deep expertise in next-generation-sequencing (NGS), single-cell genomics, and development of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) approaches. You will perform hands-on roles and lead a team that is responsible for the analysis of drug perturbational datasets as well as developing analytical tools to predict novel compounds that revert disease cellular states. You will work closely with the Biology and Genomics teams and collaborate cross-functionally within Cellarity to advance drug discovery programs. The ideal candidate must be results oriented with a strong DL and NGS background, have a successful technical and managerial track, have excellent communication skills and be willing to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
What you would be responsible for:
- Manage and mentor a small team of experts in ML and DL.
- Develop and maintain novel predictive models that are core to identification of compounds modulating disease states.
- Leverage single-cell, molecular structures, and computational biology techniques to generate insights on mechanisms of action and drug effects.
- Design robust pipelines to analyze and interpret perturbation-based gene expression datasets.
- Collaborate with scientists from Biology, Technology, and Chemistry teams as part of the wider drug discovery project team.
What experience will you need:
- Doctoral Degree in Computational Biology, Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, and related disciplines, with minimum 5 years of industry experience.
- Experience in people management with a wide range of deliverables.
- Extensive experience in developing and maintaining DL models for biological applications.
- Extensive experience in Python, sklearn, pandas, numpy, and pytorch/TF.
- Extensive experience in analyzing bulk and single-cell NGS data.
- Extensive knowledge of pathway enrichment, differential expression analysis, and cell type annotation.
- Expertise in network approaches for biosciences.
- Familiarity with different representations of molecular structures (e.g. SMILES, Morgan fingerprints) and techniques for embedding them.
- Ability to successfully work in cross-functional teams with an emphasis on collaboration and communication across the department. Industry experience, with emphasis on drug discovery projects.
What sets you apart:
- Demonstrated mastery of modern computational analysis of NGS datasets and development of novel DL workflows.
- A passion for deriving novel scientific trajectories that break the boundaries of common drug discovery approaches.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, technical and managerial track, collaboration, and time-management skills.

Company Summary: Cellarity’s mission is to fundamentally redesign the way drugs are created for the sake of bringing new hope to patients. By shifting the focus from a single target to the underlying cellular dysfunction, we unravel the complexity of disease biology and create medicines that were never before possible. The company has developed unique capabilities that link biology and chemistry with high dimensional -omic data from which we design medicines against the cellular signature of disease. The Cellarity platform allows us to uncover new biology in diseases even in the absence of known causal targets. The company has drug discovery programs underway in several disease areas, including metabolic disease, hematology, and immunology. Cellarity recently completed a Series C financing, and has raised a total of $274M from all funding rounds to date, with contributions from world-renowned investors alongside Flagship Pioneering who created the company. Cellarity’s goal is to grow into a fully integrated next generation Biotech company driving a new age in drug creation.
Cellarity is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
Recruitment & Staffing Agencies: Cellarity does not accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than candidates. The submission of unsolicited resumes by recruitment or staffing agencies to Cellarity or its employees is strictly prohibited unless contacted directly by Cellarity’s internal Talent Acquisition team. Any resume submitted by an agency in the absence of a signed agreement will automatically become the property of Cellarity, and Cellarity will not owe any referral or other fees with respect thereto.
