About the Role

As a Cloud Data Engineer within our Enterprise Data Analytics & Enablement team, you’ll be instrumental in leading the development of a component-driven data mesh platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This state-of-the-art platform offers numerous capabilities to ensure a seamless data product experience for our internal customers. This role is pivotal to ANZ's Data Strategy, particularly in developing various products and services within the central data mesh platform ecosystem.

What Will Your Day Look Like?

• Design, build, test, and support a secure, robust, and scalable Central Data Mesh Platform on GCP.
• Resolve ambiguous and complex engineering challenges.
• Collaborate within and across teams, Tech Areas, and Domains.
• Utilize tools and practices to build, verify, and deploy solutions efficiently, emphasizing Software Fundamentals.
• Promote a culture of best practices concerning reviews, quality, and documentation within the Tribe and the Chapter.
• Provide ongoing support for platforms, including problem and incident management.

What Will You Bring?

• At least 2 years of experience in building modern applications using GCP services such as Cloud Build, Cloud Functions/Cloud Run, GKE, Logging, GCS, BigQuery, and IAM.
• Proficiency in Python, with experience in a secondary language like Golang or Java.
• Knowledgeable and hands-on experience with GKE/Kubernetes.
• Strong focus on code and configuration management, CI/CD automation, and automated testing.
• Experience with data warehouse solutions, preferably in a cloud environment.
• Experience with ETL frameworks such as Apache Beam or Apache Spark.
• Familiarity with cloud-native data engineering tools/services like Dataflow and Dataproc.
• Experience in delivering solutions within a complex enterprise environment.
• Ability to integrate Kafka for handling real-time data.
• Experience migrating on-prem Hadoop data & pipelines to any cloud platform.
• Proficiency in monitoring tools like Splunk and other cloud-native tools.
• Senior Engineer candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of IT experience, particularly in design and build activities.
