Introduction to Role

Join our Global Enterprise Architect (GEA) Team at AstraZeneca, where we drive the global development of AI products. Collaborate closely with teams across Business Technology Group (BTG – Business Unit) IT, Research and Development, Data Governance Teams, and SET Area Data Offices (SEDO). We provide essential designs, patterns, reference architecture, frameworks, and services focusing on ingestion, extraction, processing, transformation, and more.

We design the core elements of the data ecosystem for AstraZeneca, serving our global customer businesses.

Key Accountabilities

As an Enterprise Data Architect, your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with data scientists and AI professionals to enhance digital transformation efforts by identifying and piloting use cases.
• Aligning technical implementations with current and future requirements by gathering inputs from various collaborators—including business users, data scientists, security experts, data engineers, and IT operations—and developing processes and products based on those inputs.
• Defining the AI architecture and selecting appropriate technologies from a range of open-source and commercial offerings.

Essential Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in framing and delivering enterprise data architecture/master and reference data management architectural thinking, and its practical application.
• Proficiency in conceptual and logical data modeling technologies.
• Knowledge in defining and implementing Enterprise and data regulatory governance.
• A blend of data architecture/design, analysis, and engineering skills.
• Experience with industry-standard IT architectural patterns and methodologies.
• Understanding of Data Platforms concepts and cloud-based containerization strategies for hybrid cloud environments.
• Proficiency in data visualization, data migration, and data modeling.
• Experience with relational database management systems.

Desirable Skills and Experience

It would be advantageous to have:

• Post-graduate degree in MIS or AI.
• Extensive experience in a senior AI/Data Science role, with practical examples of implemented designs or blueprints for real-world use cases.
• Knowledge of AI and Data Governance frameworks.
• Experience in Agile AI definition scrums.
• Proficiency with tooling such as metadata cataloguing tools, data modeling tools, and EA tools.
• Hands-on experience in building AI models, including LLM and LVM, working closely with different data types to generate accurate models.
• Experience in the AI Pharmaceutical industry.
