AI Research Intern (Mandarin Speaking) - Huawei Ireland

We are excited to announce an opportunity for an AI Research Intern to join our team at Huawei Ireland. This role will immerse you in cutting-edge research within the realm of Intelligent Operations and Management of future Autonomous Telecommunication Networks. You will tackle advanced AI challenges, particularly applying Large Language Models (LLMs) in the telecommunications domain.

About the Job

As an AI Research Intern, you will collaborate closely with our AI research team, Domain Experts, and Software Engineers. Your focus will be on leveraging your knowledge of building compact multi-modal LLMs for tasks such as general question-answering, reasoning, and planning. Your contributions will be pivotal in areas like network self-healing, fault localization and troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and fault remediation planning.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess the state-of-art AI technologies, both in industry and academic literature, that address challenges in Autonomous Telecommunication Networks. Special emphasis will be on Large Language Models for network self-healing use cases.
• Contribute to the rapid, iterative development of validated AI-based software prototypes and benchmark alternative solutions.
• Collaborate closely with Domain Experts, Data Engineers, and fellow AI researchers.
• Work alongside product development teams and business partners to productionize AI technologies, including providing source code and design documents.

Requirements

• PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Natural Language Processing.
• Hands-on or research experience with language models, especially Large Language Models.
• Experience in building deep neural networks.
• Strong background in mathematics and statistics.
• Proficient programming skills in Python.
• Practical experience with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-Learn and Pytorch.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop new algorithms and methodologies from leading open-source initiatives and research papers.
• Strong skills in Chinese listening, reading, writing, and comprehension.
• Domain knowledge in telecommunication networks is a significant advantage.
• Publication track record in reputable machine learning and computer science conferences and journals (e.g., ICML, ECML, NIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, IJCNN) is a plus.
