Job Description

Join Capgemini as a Senior Data Engineer in Chicago to enhance our Enterprise Data Lake projects. As a vital part of our scrum teams, you will handle functional system development on Hadoop applications and propel our data-driven initiatives forward.

Responsibilities

• Engage actively in the agile development process and develop functional and technical specifications from business requirements.
• Guarantee application quality and compliance with performance standards.
• Assist in creating project estimates and plans.
• Represent the engineering team in project meetings and contribute to solution discussions.
• Participate in the code review process and collaborate with fellow data engineers to develop cutting-edge Analytic applications using Big Data technologies like Hadoop, NoSQL, and in-memory Data Grids.
• Mentor team members and influence stakeholders throughout the organization.

Required Skills

• A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics) with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in developing big data solutions and proficiency in Ab Initio tools such as GDE, Co>Operating System, and Metadata Hub.
• Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, shell scripts, Hadoop commands, and using Git.
• Programming skills in Scala, Java, or Python, and proficiency in Hive, Sqoop, Spark, Kafka, HBase on Hadoop.
• Experience with performance tuning and a strong acumen for business, critical thinking, and creativity.
• Familiarity with additional tools like Hortonworks, Zookeeper, and Oozie is advantageous.
