About the Team

Our Audio Technology team develops and integrates new audio features for Apple products. Diverse engineers come together to create prototypes of pioneering audio technologies and guide their implementation into Apple’s hardware. We work collaboratively across Apple’s deeply-connected engineering and product development teams. We are seeking an Acoustic ML Application Specialist to elevate our products to new heights. Job Description

The primary role of the Acoustic ML Engineer is to develop novel technologies in audio perception and understanding. Core activities include audio data acquisition and preprocessing, prototyping, and evaluating ML models for machine hearing applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize and enhance algorithms, improving model accuracy across various Apple hardware and software tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

• Advanced degrees in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Signal Processing, Electronics, or an equivalent field, or proven expertise in acoustics or sound quality through a different path.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Good understanding of audio and audio signals.
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch, or other ML training frameworks.
• Understanding of audio signal processing (EQ, Dynamic Range Compression).
• Experience in multi-channel audio enhancement, speech enhancement, or Natural Language Processing (NLP).
• Experience with large-scale training on enterprise infrastructure.
• Proficiency in modern AI/ML techniques: self-supervised learning, transformer models applied to media signals, contrastive learning.
• Experience in shipping high-complexity, high-volume consumer electronics.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is just one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides opportunities for progression as you grow within the role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $208,300. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
