About Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL)

We are currently seeking a highly qualified Statistician to support various projects in product development (nonclinical) in collaboration with biologists, chemists, formulators, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Statistical Support

The Statistician will provide statistical support for scientists in Product Development, focusing on a variety of molecule types, including new modalities. Responsibilities include:

  • Experimental design and analysis support for chemists/biologists and formulation scientists.
  • Developing and optimizing chemical/biochemical processes and formulations for both batch and continuous manufacturing.
  • Design and analysis support for analytical chemists to develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods.
  • Designing and analyzing long-term and accelerated stability studies.
  • Developing and implementing novel methods to advance drug development and manufacturing.
  • Authoring sections of CMC regulatory submission documents.
  • Collaborating on research projects related to modeling, experimental design, process control, or multivariate analysis.

Communicating Results

Effective communication of development study results is crucial. Tasks include:

  • Collaborating with team members or external partners to emphasize clarity and visualization.
  • Communicating via manuscript or oral presentation.
  • Presenting results in one-on-one meetings with key customers or external partners and at scientific meetings.

Therapeutic/Scientific Area Knowledge

Developing an understanding of scientific areas and disease states to enhance customer focus and collaboration, contributing as a strong scientific partner.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensuring full compliance with corporate, local, and departmental policies, procedures, processes, and training.

Training and Development

Developing and providing training courses for various statistical methods.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Research, or
  • M.S. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Research with at least 10 years of pharmaceutical experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Experience in applying statistics in pharmaceutical development or manufacturing.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Proficient in R, Python, JMP, and/or SAS programming languages.
  • Expertise in acquiring and compiling data, DOE, Bayesian methods, machine learning, and visualization.
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills for effective customer collaboration.
  • Strong leadership, creativity, and innovation skills.
  • Problem-solving, attention to detail, and results-oriented behavior.
  • Eagerness to learn about chemistry, biology, engineering, computer science, and pharmaceutical science.
