Job Summary: The AI Dev Intern will be tasked with the development of information systems through the design, development, and installation of AI-related software solutions. Job success will be gauged by demonstrating a mix of technical expertise via successful execution and compliance with industry and SelectQuote Application Development team development standards. This is a paid internship. Duties/Responsibilities: - Adapt existing software to accommodate the evolving needs of our business lines - Design, develop, and implement software elements, enhancements, modules, and solutions that resonate with SelectQuote's business needs and expectations concerning key project/product performance metrics - Directly design and develop software solutions from business specifications and requirements. Self-sufficiency is required during development phases, utilizing other senior developers or architects for code validation and peer review - Stick to development scope and timelines in accordance with the overall project and SelectQuote-provided development tools and procedures - Develop scalable, automated solutions to service our customers and internal development team - Lead by example by demonstrating high performance in areas such as customer service, collaboration, teamwork, dependability, productivity, and execution Required Skills/Abilities: - Ability to execute tasks with some supervision - Excellent communication skills - Strong initiative, innovative thinking skills, and the ability to analyze details and adopt a strategic perspective - Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively establish relationships, foster a team-oriented environment, and influence others Education and Experience: - 1-2 years of preferred programming or software development experience - Effective Understanding of HTML5 and CSS3 - Awareness of JavaScript and common tools and frameworks, e.g., express, React, npm - Understanding of Node.js - Understanding of relational databases, with a preference for MSSQL - Understanding of RESTful API Services - Understanding of cloud-native development - React experience preferred - Express experience preferred - TypeScript experience preferred - Experience with AWS services, e.g., Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, etc., preferred - Experience using industry software development methodologies, standards, and architectural frameworks - Experience with various SDLC methodologies, with a preference for agile SCRUM - Experience with code-based unit testing - Experience with code management and release methodologies and tools
