Position Overview: AI Research Engineer

We are actively seeking an experienced AI Research Engineer to help build a state-of-the-art sales assistant. This role involves close collaboration with our skilled teams of research, ML, data, and software engineers to develop and deploy advanced agentic systems. Note that this is an in-person role based in our San Francisco office in the Financial District.

Responsibilities

• Leverage cutting-edge research to enhance our AI sales assistant.
• Initiate and lead new experimental ideas within the team.
• Take charge of dataset collection and generation initiatives.
• Optimize modeling and inference processes.
• Collaborate on distributed training scripts with ML and Data engineers.

Requirements

• More than 3 years of experience in working with production AI systems.
• At least one publication as first author.
• Deep understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), including hands-on experience building GPT-1 in NumPy and manual backpropagation for transformer blocks.
• A solid grasp of ML fundamentals and distributed training practices.
• Familiarity with production inference and experience with PyTorch.
• Bonus: Experience in building agentic systems with task-specific models and iterating AI products based on user feedback.
