Key Qualifications

Prospective candidates should have:

• In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms with application abilities in data-driven natural language processing systems.
• Strong coding and software engineering skills in mainstream programming languages, such as Python, Go, or C/C++.
• Familiarity with NLP and ML tools such as Jax, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
• Hands-on experience in building production-quality applications focusing on natural language processing and machine learning.
• Capability to quickly prototype ideas, perform critical analyses, and develop solutions for complex problems.
• A proactive learning attitude and the ability to perform both independently and as a team member.

Role Description

Responsibilities include:

• Researching and developing advanced language modeling techniques to enhance Apple’s language understanding capabilities.
• Creating novel applications of large language models for various search problems.
• Transferring cutting-edge machine learning solutions to enhance multiple search and assistant product use cases.
• Designing and implementing user-centric improvements through efficient ML models.
• Developing tools and frameworks to support the iteration and launch of ML concepts within product scopes.
• Analyzing current loss patterns in search and assistant stacks, and innovating new features and algorithms to boost product metrics.
• Collaborative engagement across product teams to integrate language understanding models into new product areas.
• Continuously enhancing model metrics and performance by leveraging state-of-the-art ML techniques.

Education & Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant fields with a strong academic record is required. An MS or PhD in Computer Science or related fields is preferred.

Additional Requirements

Experience with large language models and cloud technologies like AWS or GCP with Kubernetes is advantageous.

Compensation & Benefits

Apple offers a competitive compensation package with a base salary range from $131,500.00 to $243,300.00, depending on skill level, qualifications, and location. Benefits include comprehensive healthcare, retirement benefits, discounted products, and stock purchase options. Employees may also receive bonuses, commission payments, and relocation support where applicable.
