Job Overview Amazon Robotics is looking for an inventive and talented Mechanical Engineering student to join our Robotic Storage Tech team for a Co-op placement. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with our senior engineering staff to envisage and implement innovative technological solutions built around mobile robots, dynamic storage systems, and workstations equipped with integrated computer vision and artificial intelligence. The perfect candidate has strong mechanical skills, enjoys solving problems, and can potentially multitask. This position reports to a Hardware Development Engineer on the Amazon Robotics team. This is a 6-month full-time (40 hours/week) Co-op position from January to June 2024, that will be based in our Robotics Innovation Hub in Westborough, MA. Our offices, labs, test floors, and manufacturing facilities are all located within the greater Boston area. As a hardware development engineer, you'll be walking into the hub of Amazon's robotics innovation. The Amazon Robotics Storage Tech designs and develops revolutionary storage solutions used in the Amazon Logistics Network. Our goal is to create the next generation of automated containerized systems, and optimize our existing network. We are a team of talented engineers, product advocates, and creators focusing on technologies that make inventory picking, stowing, and counting safer and more efficient for Amazon. We deliver valuable using our advanced robotic technologies because we respond to our numerous customers, develop robust and reliable solutions, and invest in our people and our products. Co-op Responsibilities: · Join an interdisciplinary team to design and analyze mechanisms, modules, or systems. · Model and detail solutions using hand drawn sketches and SolidWorks. · Analyze components and systems using standard tools, including SolidWorks Simulation (FEA), and hand calculations. · Participate in brainstorming sessions. · Build models and prototypes. · Conduct testing. · Assist staff in writing ECO's, specifications, and plans. We are open to hiring candidates who are willing to work at one of the following locations: Westborough, MA, USA Basic Qualifications - Junior year or beyond enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program with at least one semester of school remaining after completion of the co-op. - Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40 hours/week) 6-month co-op from January to June 2024. - Solid understanding of principles, theories, and concepts in mechanical engineering. - Proficiency with SolidWorks Simulation Finite Element Analysis tools. Preferred Qualifications - Comfortable using hand tools. - Desire to work in a fast-paced agile environment. - Hands-on experience with the ability to craft simple proof-of-concept models. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams.
