This role is a six-month internship to join Amazon Robotics full-time (40 hours/week) from January to June 2024. The positions available with Amazon Robotics will be located in the Greater Boston Area, within our two high-tech facilities in Westborough and North Reading, Massachusetts. Both campuses offer interns direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing plants. In this role, you will work closely with simulation engineers to construct virtual robotic worlds. Using technologies such as Unity and Blender, you will breathe life into these virtual realms by creating levels and art assets (2D and 3D) for a real-time graphics application. Responsibilities for the Technical Artist Intern may include: - Acting as a liaison between heads of programming and design teams - Developing technical tools for a project - Establishing workflows of art production - Supporting artists and engineers in the 3D art pipeline - Assisting in asset performance and validation - Resolving complex technical issues during development - Determining the required software and tools for Digital Twin production - Developing and maintaining resources and pipelines with programmers - Keeping up-to-date technical documentation We are open to hiring candidates to work in either of the following locations: Boston, MA, USA | Westborough, MA, USA Basic Qualifications: - Enrollment in a degree program in Computer Science, Visual Effects, Graphic Art, Animation, or a related field, with at least one semester remaining after the completion of the internship - Availability and eligibility for a full-time (40 hours/week) six-month internship from January to June 2024 - Experience with Substance Designer or Substance Painter - Experience with Maya, Houdini or Blender - Familiarity with real-time photoreal shaders in any game engine - Solid understanding of PBR and MDL (Material Definition Language) Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse Kit and other Omniverse Apps - Proficiency in C++, C#, or Java - Experience with Substance Designer - Familiarity with 3D Studio Max - Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Solidworks - Familiarity with USD-based pipelines/workflows - Experience with 3D Scanning or Photogrammetry - Solid understanding of PBR and MDL (Material Definition Language) - A portfolio of previous work is a plus Even if you don't fulfil every requirement on this list, we would still be interested in hearing from you!
