Role Overview: Software Development Engineer - Robotic Navigation

At Amazon Robotics, we are seeking skilled and motivated Software Engineers who will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing software that manages our groundbreaking mobile robotic fulfillment systems. These high-tech systems are integral to the operations at Amazon.com. Our team focuses on crafting software that optimizes and controls the navigation of these robots through diverse types of data, including positional coordinates, travel times, and congestion levels. By improving system efficiency through adaptive and dynamic path planning, effective allocation decisions, and enhanced floor visualization and health monitoring, your work will directly impact the evolution of logistic solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop innovative software solutions to tackle business challenges.
• Collaborate with your manager and team to set project milestones and deliverables.
• Engage in daily scrums and participate in development reviews.
• Create design documentation and conduct reviews with the engineering team.
• Write, test, and integrate code while cooperating with both software and hardware components.
• Prototype and perform concept or feature testing using both simulation tools and actual robotic equipment.
• Directly interact with customers to test software prototypes and gather feedback.
• Utilize Amazon Robotics and Amazon’s cutting-edge engineering tools, processes, and technology.

Opportunities are available at our offices in North Reading, MA and Westborough, MA, USA.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience outside of internships.
• 2+ years specializing in the design or architecture of new and existing systems, with a focus on reliability and scalability.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 3 years of experience across the full software development lifecycle, including but not limited to coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
