About the Team

The BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) team drives BlackRock's investment debate and portfolio construction. Within BII, the Sustainable Investing Research and Analytics Team (SIRA) focuses on researching investment risks and opportunities in the sustainability transition. The team evaluates sustainability dynamics and translates these insights into investment and portfolio implications. With over $700 billion in sustainable assets under management, BlackRock leverages its investment platform, proprietary technology, data analytics, and sustainability expertise to offer innovative solutions to clients.

This role supports various strategic research projects, including designing sustainable investment strategies, net zero portfolio analytics, energy transition scenario development, biodiversity analytics, and assessing sustainability policy and trends. You will also support thought leadership content, client engagements, client service, reporting, and executive briefings to senior management.

Responsibilities

Investment Research

  • Conduct fundamental and quantitative sustainability research on the transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy.
  • Support the development of sustainability-related investment insights and written thought leadership.
  • Communicate research findings in internal and external publications, client meetings, and media appearances.

Client Strategy and Communications

  • Develop and approve materials for client engagements.
  • Coordinate with partners to deliver on client requests regarding sustainable investment research and strategies.
  • Create performance attribution and commentaries.

Data and Analytics

  • Analyze portfolios using Aladdin and Python/R tools.
  • Research and summarize emerging energy and climate policies, technology trends, and industry reports.
  • Review sustainability data and methodologies, and conduct statistical analysis using machine learning and cloud computing tools.

Strategy and Project Management

  • Organize and execute on team’s top priorities and contribute to short, medium, and long-term business strategies.
  • Conduct industry research and monitor competitor and client activity.

Qualifications

We are seeking self-motivated and organized Analysts to join SIRA in multi-faceted roles at the cross-section of sustainability research, climate analytics, and strategy. We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all the following criteria.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Proficient in statistical modeling and data analysis.
  • Experience with Econometrics, especially time series and panel data.
  • Intermediate or advanced skills in at least one programming language (C, C++, Java, or Python).
  • Experience with cloud environments and machine learning algorithms.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly.
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership.
  • A four-year college degree is required.
