Location: Currently teleworking, transitioning to hybrid teleworking and client site in Fort Belvoir, VA.

Join LMI, a premier consulting firm, as an Application Developer to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain a mission-critical Army Data Layer (ADL). You will be instrumental in developing the foundational platform for the Army Data Platform's second iteration. Collaborate with Government Leads, solution architects, data owners, data stewards, process and workflow analysts, and data scientists to deliver solutions that address essential business needs.

Responsibilities

• Build a master-agent architecture to support ETL pipelines.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs using best practices.
• Write and execute automated tests.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation to support platform maintenance.
• Participate in infrastructure reviews to identify best practices and improvement opportunities.
• Adhere to good practices and project guidelines, including source code control, automated testing, and proper documentation.
• Engage in requirements discovery and design work sessions to determine solution requirements.
• Architect and develop applications to support internal and external communications and intra-service communications.
• Collaborate with diverse technical delivery teams to build scalable, service-based architecture and drive innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 3+ years of experience in building production applications.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) or in-house data centers.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Ability to understand various system-to-system interface types and design solutions across on-prem and cloud infrastructures.
• Familiarity with ETL concepts and solutions, particularly for big data engineering, including experience with Apache Spark.
• In-depth understanding of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Experience with non-relational databases (MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc.).
• Web development experience (JavaScript, JSON, HTML, CSS).
• Experience with streaming/queuing frameworks (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Active Secret Clearance.

Desired Skills

• Experience with Palantir.
• Analytical mindset – data-driven and proficient in problem-solving, especially using platform metadata or logging data to diagnose issues related to system functionality or data pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills – capable of effectively delivering messages, translating functional requirements into technical solutions, and coordinating across technical and non-technical teams.
