The Generative AI Org at Meta is excited to welcome strong AI Research Scientists to our team to work on the next generation of Large Language Models (LLMs). As a Research Scientist, you'll play an integral role in advancing Meta AI, helping people everywhere achieve their tasks more efficiently.

Role and Responsibilities

As an Applied Research Scientist in Generative AI, you will:

  • Conduct research to solve real-world problems and push the state-of-the-art in LLMs and assistant technology.
  • Independently design and implement algorithms, train extensive LLMs on large datasets, and evaluate their performance.
  • Drive applied research efforts that can be integrated into Meta product development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • PhD in Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
  • Research experience in areas such as NLP, speech processing, machine learning, deep learning, or similar fields.
  • 3+ years of experience with LLM development, algorithm implementation, and model training.
  • Strong understanding of deep learning and neural networks.
  • Proficiency with machine learning libraries, especially PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python and shell scripts.
  • Eligible to work in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in generative AI and LLM research, bringing solutions to production.
  • First-author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ACL).
  • Expertise in solving complex problems, evaluating alternative solutions, and determining the most effective path forward.
  • Experience working and communicating cross-functionally within a team environment.

Compensation

Base Salary: $177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Note that individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed reflect the base salary only and do not include the bonus, equity, or sales incentives, if applicable.
