Applied Research Scientist – Generative AI: Speech & Audio at Meta

As an Applied Research Scientist in Generative AI, you will be instrumental in advancing state-of-the-art research, building top-tier foundation models, and integrating them into products impacting billions of users.

About GenAI Audio

Our mission at GenAI Audio is to develop leading Speech & Audio foundation models that empower Meta products. Currently, we are focused on controllable generative speech synthesis to provide our AI agents with human-like voices. We have created a Speech foundation model capable of generating high-quality voice from just 10-20 seconds of target speaker audio and supporting deep cloning with voices from 30-60 minutes of audio. Additionally, we can control speech emotions based on LLM output. Our Generative AI service is being integrated into SG, MV, and APG.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead, collaborate, and execute research to advance intelligent systems that enhance Facebook products and user experiences.
• Directly contribute to experiments by designing experimental details, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results.
• Identify ambitious long-term research goals and intermediate milestones.
• Prioritize research for application in Meta's product development.
• Contribute to peer-reviewed publications.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in areas such as NLP, ASR, TTS, Conversational AI, Dialogue, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence.
• Proficiency in developing machine learning algorithms or infrastructure using C/C++ or Python.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in AI research within academia, industry, or government labs.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical fields.
• Hands-on experience in generative AI and speech research.
• First author publications in peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., InterSpeech, ICASSP, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ACL).

Compensation

Salary: $177,000/year to $251,000/year plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
