Job Opportunity: Applied Scientist - Generative AI, Strategic Risk Insights at Amazon

Are you a passionate scientist looking to create innovative Generative AI solutions that provide insights into security risks? We are seeking a hands-on researcher to join our Strategic Risk Insights team. You will derive, implement, and test cutting-edge solutions to scale security risk insights for Amazon businesses. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of software and security engineers to build a specialized product that identifies security findings at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and test novel models for classification and risk identification
  • Design and develop scalable machine learning models
  • Work with large datasets
  • Train and deploy models
  • Collaborate with software/security engineering teams to test and deploy your models
  • Create detailed reports and brief findings for executive leadership
  • Mentor team members on the use of your AI models

A Day in the Life

Collaborate with Amazon risk and security teams to identify essential requirements and gaps for delivering security risks to stakeholders and customers. Research datasets with security and software engineers to gather the necessary data for analysis. Conduct experiments, regressions, and various analysis activities to uncover insights. Develop and train models to be deployed in a production environment with the assistance of software engineers. Finally, work closely with security team partners to measure the effectiveness of the developed models.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience
  • 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python
  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modeling tools like R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark
  • Experience with AWS Infrastructure (Lambda, Aurora, Dynamo, Athena)
  • Experience with Bedrock, SageMaker, LangChain, LLamaIndex, VectorStores, embeddings like Titan and OpenSearch

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets. The base pay for this role ranges from $150,400/year to $260,000/year based on location and job-related factors. Employees are eligible for additional compensation such as equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive benefits package. Learn
