About the Role

As an Applied Scientist with Amazon's Global Search Quality team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of how our customers discover products seamlessly. Your expertise will specifically contribute to advancements in query understanding, semantic matching, relevance ranking, language identification, and machine translation. These initiatives directly impact customer satisfaction and the broader business, making this role highly visible and impactful.

Who We're Looking For

Candidates should have a robust background in programming, preferably with experience in Java, C++, Python, or similar languages. Additionally, proficiency with SQL, RDBMS systems like Oracle, or Data Warehouses is essential. A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field is required to support your ability to craft scalable, effective search solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with NLP and ML techniques, especially in a search context, is highly desirable. Familiarity with AWS services, building and deploying low-latency ML models in large-scale, real-time production systems will set you apart. Candidates who have conducted A/B testing and are experienced with large-scale data processing frameworks like Spark are encouraged to apply.

Compensation Details

Base salary for this role spans from $129,400 to $212,800 per year, depending on location and experience. Our total compensation approach includes equity, sign-on payments, and additional rewards.
