About This Role

As an integral part of the Research Team, you will harness cutting-edge advancements in robotics, software development, Big Data, ML, and AI to engage in transformative projects. Our facilities, equipped with advanced robotics, are incubators for large-scale technological feats, engaging thousands of robots in complex operations.

This position focuses on leveraging vast arrays of data to drive innovation. You will be instrumental in developing the ML and AI roadmap, spearheading science initiatives, and delivering ML products that meet precise, impactful business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategize and ideate with Data Science and various science teams to co-create the ML roadmap.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders across different functions to define key problems and innovative solutions.
• Independently develop ML algorithms focusing on Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Causal Inference, and other techniques.
• Engage with Science, Technology, Operations, and Business leaders to transition ML concepts into functioning products.
• Promote best practices and mentor junior team members in problem-solving and effective communication.
• Lead cutting-edge research and contribute to internal and external publications.

A Day in the Life

On any given day, you will collaborate with a diverse team to identify business opportunities and transform them into actionable ML/AI solutions. From prototyping innovative ideas to guiding new implementations, your contributions will be crucial in shaping future technologies at Amazon Robotics.

Team Structure

You will join a diverse group of scientists specializing in fields like machine learning, operations research, and automation. Our team focuses on developing novel algorithms applied to robotic warehouse operations. Your role will also support fostering innovation across Amazon Robotics and coordinating academic engagements.

We are looking to fill this position in Westborough, MA, USA.

Basic Qualifications

• PhD, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Proven experience with publications in top-tier journals or patents.
• Proficient in Java, C++, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Robust knowledge in developing algorithms and foundational models for Computer Vision and ML in robotics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
• Background in professional software development.
