About the Team: Rakuten Institute of Technology (RIT)

The Rakuten Institute of Technology (RIT) is our dedicated Research and Innovation Department focused on Human-Computer Interactions, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning. This unique environment fosters scientific research and innovation, contributing to Rakuten's cutting-edge technology endeavors.

As an Intern, Your Role Includes:

  • Conducting comprehensive literature reviews on learning-to-rank (LTR) with multiple objectives.
  • Selecting and implementing relevant approaches for multi-objective LTR into our Deep Learning repository.
  • Investigating the effectiveness of multi-objective LTR on large-scale Rakuten data.
  • Collaborating with the team to analyze and interpret experimental results.
  • Extracting meaningful insights to guide the design of new custom ranking models.
  • Preparing and submitting a scientific paper summarizing your research and findings.

Candidate Profile

  • Enrollment in a Computer Science Master 2 (or equivalent) specializing in Machine Learning or a related field.
  • Proficiency in PyTorch for developing machine learning models.
  • Familiarity with recommendation systems, deep learning with tabular data, natural language processing (NLProc), and general machine learning techniques.
  • Proven experience in implementing ML papers.
  • Experience with Git for version control and collaboration.
  • Interest in recommender systems and information retrieval.
  • Strong mathematical background and problem-solving skills.
  • Full proficiency in English, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
