About the Team

The Applied Science Map Service team at Microsoft is at the forefront of engineering and applied science. Our work revolves around creating cutting-edge deep learning models and pioneering conversational map and direction search experiences. We are focused on utilizing attention architectures, graph neural networks, learning-to-rank, and other advanced ML models to enhance search services and user experiences.

Impact Areas

  • Scalable query understanding and annotation solutions.
  • Matching, retrieval, and ranking of map and direction search results.
  • Attention and GNN approaches for ETA prediction in routing.

Responsibilities

  • Drive projects from design through implementation, experimentation, and deployment.
  • Identify and preprocess data for deriving user insights and training large-scale models.
  • Develop end-to-end machine learning and deep learning algorithms leveraging diverse data sources like text, location map search data, and routing road network data.
  • Prototype, design, and develop fundamental technologies to enhance search experiences for both consumers and enterprises.
  • Collaborate in a diverse, geographically distributed team environment.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field, OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and simplify complex ideas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant internship or prior work experience in statistics, predictive analytics, research, or working with maps data.
