Amazon's cutting-edge Private Brands team is seeking an Applied Scientist dedicated to building large-scale science solutions. Our interdisciplinary team leverages Optimization, Machine Learning, Statistics, Causal Inference, and Econometrics/Economics to derive actionable insights. We focus on optimizing the supply chain specifically for Amazon private brand products.

Key Job Responsibilities

As an Applied Scientist, you will collaborate with business leaders, scientists, and economists to transform business and functional requirements into tangible deliverables. This includes designing, developing, testing, and deploying highly scalable optimization solutions and machine learning models. This role offers a unique, high-visibility opportunity to make a substantial impact, dive deep into complex problems, and work closely with experts in various fields. Your expertise will guide science and technology decisions that define our algorithmic approaches, ensuring clarity, model efficiency, and extensibility.

Preferred Experience

  • Proficiency in predictive and machine learning models, especially in distributed systems.
  • Strong academic or practical background in Machine Learning.
  • Experience applying Operations Research techniques to supply chain issues is a plus.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD, or Master's degree plus 4+ years in CS, CE, ML, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in building models for business applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
  • Experience with algorithm implementation using both toolkits and self-developed code.
  • Expertise in algorithms, data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, and high-performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems.
  • Experience in professional software development.

Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation package reflects the cost of labor across U.S. geographic markets. The base salary for this position ranges from $136,000/year in the lowest geographic market to $222,200/year in the highest. Compensation is determined by various factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
