About this role
The Reference and Market Data Team ensures that BlackRock and BlackRock Solutions clients receive accurate, complete, and timely data.
As an Associate Data Steward on the Reference and Market Data Team, you will be supporting a growing area in a dynamic and challenging environment.
The daily functions include:
- Working closely with both internal and external data customers to understand new and evolving business requirements and market trends in order to align our data content with business needs.
- Providing data solutions, insights, and expertise in response to changing business needs, market events, regulatory changes, and new financial products.
- Data stewards are required to analyze and profile data to assure it meets business requirements and complies with the different aspects of data quality as outlined in our data quality policy.
- Drafting business requirements and creating data feed prototypes for data feed development.
- Conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on content related data feed/technology changes.
- Designing data quality checks and performance metrics to assess data health and flag deficiencies and improvements in our data sources or internal data processes.
- Providing level 2 and 3 support for level 1 operations teams to help troubleshoot or respond to content-related inquiries.
- Actively engaging with key product stakeholders to ensure a client data experience that aligns with and exceeds expectations.
- Building and maintaining relationships with our data vendors as well as internal development partners for a comprehensive, quality data offering.
- Continual engagement with technology on ways to innovate and deliver high-quality data solutions.
This role will expose the Data Steward to a wide range of BlackRock’s tools and will require working closely with internal clients such as portfolio management, account management, operations, as well as external users of security data.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Must possess and demonstrate working knowledge of financial markets and breadth of knowledge of the entire investment landscape.
- Must be able to think critically about complex business challenges and possess strong problem-solving skills to deliver holistic solutions.
- Should have enthusiasm for, and comfort with, working in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in both entrepreneurial and team-oriented environments.
- Comfort with technical tools such as SQL, Python, Jupyter Notebook, Unix commands, Hadoop, Spark SQL, Tableau, etc.
- Excellent communication skills for clear articulation with internal and external clients.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrable project management experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial services.
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Business or Computer Science.
