Job Overview

We are seeking an Automation and Robotics Engineer to join our Materials and Manufacturing Technology (MMT) Advanced Production Systems (APS) team in North Charleston, SC. Open positions are available for associate, mid-level, and lead engineers with a focus on automation and robotics. This role is crucial in driving innovation and implementing technical solutions within Boeing’s aircraft production processes.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and document software systems architectures, requirements, algorithms, and design for automated hardware and industrial robotics.
  • Maintain and integrate software components into fully functional systems.
  • Perform development, integration, and testing of automated hardware systems.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes and the quality, safety, and reliability of products and services.
  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and peers to meet performance expectations.
  • Support agile project management, estimation, and planning.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 1+ years of engineering experience in industrial robotics, controls, PLCs, sensor integration, or related automation.
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience for mid-level positions.
  • 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience for lead positions.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly principles and best practices.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira and GitLab.
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as C#, Python, Java, C++, and/or SQL.
  • Experience with the design of software systems and integration with multiple data sources.

Education and Experience

Associate (Level 2):

Typically gained through a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field plus two or more years of related work experience.

Mid-Level (Level 3):

Typically acquired through a bachelor's degree and five or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., PhD, Master + 3 years related work experience).

Lead (Level 4):

Typically acquired through a bachelor's degree and nine or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., PhD + 4 years related work experience, Master + 7 years related work experience).

Additional Information

Location: This position is 100% onsite. Candidates must be able to work on-site at North Charleston, SC, 5 days per week.
