BI Developer Position at Flexential

Job Description:

The BI Developer will operate within the Data Intelligence team to support delivering on the vision of expanding the data & analytics capabilities at Flexential. This role is responsible for the collection, preparation, storage, and translation of critical business data. The BI Developer will adhere to best practices including Agile execution, technical documentation, requirements capture, progress reporting, and data visualization standards.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

Data Acquisition & Integration

Ability to gather various types of data (e.g., structured, unstructured, semi-structured) from different locations (e.g., databases, file systems, APIs) and extract for fit-for-purpose use cases.

Data Storage & Management

Ability to implement storage solutions like data lakes, relational databases, data warehouses, and data marts to suit the needs of the stakeholders.

Data Processing & Transformation

Ability to apply business rules to clean, transform, and organize data into a consistent format for analysis by multiple user groups/stakeholders.

Ability to describe designs to other team members and participate in code reviews to assess viability and design principles.

Data Visualization

Ability to architect reports, dashboards, and other data visualizations to create user-friendly interactions for exploring and analyzing data.

Ability to troubleshoot issues identified on the front-end visual to the back-end system/source of truth.

Collaboration

Ability to understand business concepts and synthesize into technical designs.

Ability to story tell with data and educate business stakeholders on additional areas to consider.

Ability to communicate with stakeholders in the business and technical teams.

Ability to manage own work, schedule, and expectations.

Ability to train the business users on how to use the data solutions and tools effectively in their day-to-day function.

Maintenance

Ability to administer the core platforms (i.e., Tableau) for the organization.

Ability to train other individuals to manage and administer the platform.

Required Qualifications

• Highly experienced in analytical design, analytical methodologies, data organization, problem-solving, and storytelling with data.
• 2+ years of experience in BI development.
• 2+ years of experience working in an Agile delivery team.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL Server database and Tableau.
• Expert knowledge of writing procedures in a Microsoft SQL Server database.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and explore processes that may be unfamiliar and need to be refactored.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

• Experience with database platforms such as: Azure DB, Snowflake.
• Experience with leading data visualization tools such as: Tableau, Power BI, Qlik.
• Knowledge of data centers.
• Knowledge of billing systems and processes.

• Travel 5% of the time.
