We’re currently seeking a Big Data Engineer to develop and integrate systems that retrieve, process and analyze data from the digital sphere, generating data for our customers. As a data engineer, you will operate at the very core of the shopper solution, designing and implementing complex high scale systems capable of retrieving and analyzing data from millions of digital users. Your role as a data engineer will provide opportunities to use the most up-to-date technology to resolve complex technical problems. So, what will your day look like? Your duties as part of the R&D team will likely include: 1. Working in a diverse team alongside data scientists to tackle complex data challenges and bring new solutions and algorithms to production. 2. Developing and maintaining data processing jobs using big data technologies. 3. Contributing and improving the existing infrastructure of code and data pipelines, constantly exploring new technologies. 4. Experimenting with various technologies in the field of big data processing. 5. Monitoring our data pipelines to ensure accurate data ingestion from various sources, identifying and fixing bottlenecks and failures. 6. Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements. 7. Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, redesigning infrastructure for amplified scalability. This position would be a great fit for someone who: 1. Has a passion for data. 2. Holds a BSc degree in Computer Science from a prominent university - a must. 3. Has at least 1 year of server-side software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages. 4. Is proficient in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including but not limited to Python, Java, Scala. 5. Is comfortable taking on challenges and learning new technologies, including new coding languages. 6. Has excellent communication skills and can provide constant dialogue between engineering teams. 7. Can effectively prioritize tasks and work independently. 8. Has a strong sense of ownership over the team’s products 9. Is comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 10. Has excellent problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.
