Job Overview

As a Business Data Lead, you will coordinate various components of the data program within your assigned area of the Bank. This includes governance, quality, issue management, reporting, data architecture, solutions, analytics, and project management. You will also help establish appropriate policies and frameworks with minimal oversight from management.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the Data Management Program within designated units, providing training to business line and technology personnel.
• Facilitate data management-related working groups, including creating agendas and meeting materials.
• Develop an understanding of data management practices.
• Measure compliance with business and Enterprise Data Management policies and standards for assigned units.
• Identify critical data elements and capture related metadata for your assigned units.
• Monitor the quality of data through measurement of enterprise-wide KPIs/KRIs to ensure effective data risk management.
• Work to remediate data management-related issues within your assigned unit.
• Showcase the benefits of business and enterprise data management and business intelligence tools.
• Analyze datasets to derive business insights and tangible business value.
• Adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points as well as any issues raised by external regulators.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience.

• Proficiency in using spreadsheets, graphing, and presentations with a working knowledge of financial models.

Education and Experience Preferred

• Master’s Degree.
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience.
• Knowledge of data management practices and/or Bank products, systems, and workflows.
• Understanding of process improvement methodology and business process management techniques.
• Proficiency in pertinent project and presentation software.
• Basic SQL programming knowledge.

Physical Requirements

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $82,783.41 - $137,972.36 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s specific combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will influence their compensation.
