Job Description: Business Intelligence Analyst II

Exciting Opportunity at MSK

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst with strong technical skills, capable of applying them to real-world problems and effectively communicating complex topics to non-technical audiences. By partnering with senior leadership, you will use your insights to shape MSK's strategy, thereby contributing to our mission of ending cancer for life.

Role Overview:

  • Serve as a critical thought partner to senior leadership.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into structured, analytical questions, and convert complex analyses into straightforward narratives for business leaders.
  • Manage analytical projects from inception to conclusion, including problem framing, data collection, validation, exploration, modeling, visualization, synthesis, and presentation.
  • Devise creative approaches to answer questions without clear methodologies or data sources.

Sample Projects:

  • Using data to identify which MSK programs should grow, identify barriers to growth, and strategize to overcome them.
  • Utilizing external claims data to understand care patterns for cancer patients beyond MSK and guiding community provider partnerships.
  • Projecting MSK’s patient activity over short-term (1-2 years) and long-term (10-15 years), addressing considerations and uncertainty in forecasting and leadership communication.

Key Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of experience using analytics to influence key business decisions.
  • Proficiency in R (preferred) or Python for reproducible data analyses.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL.
  • Ability to develop production-grade dashboards with tools like Tableau, Shiny, or Power BI.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to take action and embrace new challenges.
  • Curiosity, self-motivation, and a desire to assist MSK leaders in making better decisions.
